Christmas is just around the corner. Being in Logistics Section, one of my tasks is to facilitate purchase request of our company. For these season my boss is asking me to scout for Promotional Gifts, Promotional Umbrellas or Conference Folders. Simple token of appreciation that we can give our clients and employees as well.
I only have a month and a half to go to scout for quality yet low cost give-away for the coming holiday. Actually, suppliers are already providing for samples which will eventually end as freebies. Well, this is the perk that I have, being in the procurement side – the freebies. But as usual, I really have to be extra cautious in dealings with the suppliers and sub-contractor. Our company has intensified the Corporate Governance Policy; it restricts us from doing scrupulous transaction specially meant to gain favorable result by bribing or monetary favor. But naturally that is not my cup of tea. I have been into this kind of job where in I have direct dealings with 3rd party outside of our company for the longest time now. Ever since I have been into this line of work, I am proud to say that never been such an instance that I have been corrupt. But of course there are also those who will really do everything just to win the bid and approach you.
But my stand towards it, I will never ever do something that my children will be ashamed of me. For me honesty is still the best policy and I will never do something that I will regret in the future. This is what I always tell to my kids and impart to our younger staff venturing into the same career as I am.
