I am Now a Argan Oil User

Argan Oil?  Moroccan Oil? Does it ring a bell to you. I had become curious about it because it is already gaining popularity even in here in the Philippines. I had previously blogged that I have sensitive skin, the very why any natural products appeal to me. Positive reviews and feedbacks from fellow Filipina bloggers also makes me more confident to use it.

Out of curiosity I purchased Moroccan Argan Oil at Rustan, quite costly but I am giving it a shot. Summer is here and I need all the help that I can get. I just starting using it 2 days ago so I still can’t fully tell you about its outcome in my skin.

Here are just some of the positive reasons why I tried using it and this I am positively expecting.

  1. Moisturizes dry, dull skin – which I am guilty of having.
  2. Regulates oily skin – so you see it is for any skin type too. If this works positively for me, I will be recommending it to my daughter who happens to have oily skin.
  3.  Strengthen brittle nails – I also needs this since my nails easily cracks.
  4.  Good skin elasticity preventing stretch marks – not for me though, but blog reader’s who are preggy can consider this too.
  5. Rejuvenates skin – I hope that my skin will really be rejuvenated sinceI am heavily exposed to sun, stress and environmental factors.
  6. Moisturizes hair and prevents hair frizz – I still haven’t applied it in mine though it is said that it can also be used for hair care.
  7. Makes scars and keloids unnoticeable.
  8. Anti-Skin aging – now that I am turning 40 this July, I need all the help to counter the signs of skin aging.

I also knew of a friend who has psoriasis and uses this . She told me that it helps her deal with recurring skin irritation due to her psoriasis.

I will be blogging about its effect on me soon. It may be to soon now to tell, but I am already excited on the outcome. I hope that my skin will respond positively.

Glad That I had Taken Chances

During my younger days, I felt so insecure with my brown skin. But as I mature, I learned to accept that brown is beautiful. I am a Filipina and proud to be brown, hence that is why I coined my blog name as “Brown Pinay”.

However, it is very unfortunate that I am not born with a flawless skin. I am prone to acne, white heads and pimples. Pimples would usually pop out of my skin especially during my period. I just hate the feeling of seeing all this unwanted skin problems. Thus it turns out that because of this I have to forego on putting on those make ups – one the pleasures that every woman enjoys.
But the most logical solution to address my skin care problem is to find help and treatment.

To resolve my skin issues, I tried going to mall based facial centers for a facial cleaning which also includes pimple pricking. I can never forget a very unfortunate experience where in my nose got swollen, I consulted my derma right there and then and I was informed that my T-Zone (area which is said to be acne prone) become swollen because of the indiscriminate pricking. After my face got swollen, when my financials permit I always go to facial skin clinic with in-house dermatologist. Although it is a little bit pricey at least I have that sense of trust and confidence that the treatment is within the dermatological practices.

I tried applying different facial treatment products that can be bought over the counter. Looking for the products that works for me is a hit and miss. There are some products which works for others but my sensitive skin reacted differently. There are also treatment products that work for me but after regular use, I become immune with it and once again skin problems started to show up.

It is only last year that I discovered a product that works for me – a solution for my skin problems. A friend introduced me to Proactiv System. I have second thoughts in using it since I had unpleasant experience with other OTC before. But I was convinced to try since Proactiv has money back guarantee. The result was seen gradually, indeed no false promises. I am used to using only one kind of facial solution at a time, so when I was told that Proactive has 3 steps solutions: renewing cleanser, revitalizing toner and repairing solution – the more that I become hesitant since at first I find it to be labor extensive. But since I was desperate to be treated with my skin problem I gave a shot. And I never regret it ever since. There is no short cut for long term treatment. I think that because of these 3 steps, it is deep cleansing thus cleaning and addressing the root cause.

Although I am not flawless or near into it, I am happy that my skin problems were addressed. Gone are the days where in I don’t want to go out of our house because of the heavy pimples in my face. Gone are the days that I will be going frail and pale to formal occasions, now I am enjoying wearing makeup when I have to. Thanks that I had taken chances.

Oregano – An Effective Home Remedy for Cough

Oregano

My Oregano Plant

Ever since I grew my oregano plant, it has been consistent that a Mommy neighbor will come knocking at our door asking if they can partake an oregano leaves since their kids. Since I am very generous {heheheh modesty aside} I would usually give them not just the leaves but the plant itself that they can grow in their garden.

Oregano is not just a culinary herb but it is also a wonder alternative medicinal plant. It is a natural cough remedy. Oregano helps to relieve the severity of the common cold and it is also believed to help relieve chills, stuffy sinuses, congestion, coughing, aches and fevers.

I can attest that it can really help loosen up phlegm. {But I was advice not to administer it to kids 2 years old and below since they have difficulty coughing out the phlegm}

My son has been nursing a bad cough with wheezing phlegm, he was asked to take salbutamol and anti-biotics, but the phlegm was still there even after he was done with the meds. Thanks to the good old Oregano concoction :

  • Wash the leaves. Boil 3 leaves of Oregano leaves.
  • Squeeze it, until the brown juice is extracted.
  • You can add lemon or you can take it as pure as it is.

I may not have that gold and silver rounds in my garden, but I am sure that I found my own pot of gold in my Oregano plant.

I Love My Grendha Viky

Last week I received a package from 2Go and it really put a sweet smile in my face. I received a Grendha shoes which I got as a sponsored gift from our last Pinay Mommies Community (PMC) EB.

I am really fond of wearing wedge shoes, but since I am diagnosed with Cervical Spondylosis (yes a sickness similar to ex-President’s Gloria Arroyo) I was advised by my doctor to refrain from wearing high-heels/wedge shoes while I am undergoing physical therapy rehab. Hence, Grendha’s package arrival was just very timely since I am really about to buy a flat sandals.

I received a Grendha Viky which is made of elegant strap with ribbon embellishment that suits to any formal chic attire.

Grendha Viky

My Actual Grendha Viky

I actually wore it already when I went to the hospital for my rehab therapy and I find it to be real comfy and stylish too. After that I dropped by at Trinoma Mall and it was a long walk indeed. I didn’t experience having blister in my feet on my first use.

{{Sorry that I cannot actually give you a peek of my picture wearing it…I am not gifted with a beautiful feet and it may not give justice to the beautiful Grendha shoes hehehehe}}

I am planning to buy a black Grendha flats for the office, actually I am really dying to have this one.

My older sister Allin is having her birthday this January and I don’t have an idea on what to give her. I also don’t have time to go to the mall since I usually go home late from the office and weekend is usually spend on house chores. So, I decided to search thru the net and was so happy when I came across this site that has gifts for her category and it has so many items to choose from. Since this site is a time saver I also recommended it to my other siblings who I know is also busy to buy a gift in the mall.
