I Love Project Happiness Bakehouse

If you are looking for a themed cupcakes and cakes that is really an eye-candy and yet very, very delicious, I am highly recommending ProjectHappiness Bakehouse. For a someone who has a sweet tooth like me, their product is a must try.  I can give you my word and I tell you, you will keep coming back for more. It is a homebased online shop which is aptly named as Project Happiness since anyone who will receive it will surely be happy, need I say more?

I personally knew the owner so I also guarantee that it is hygienic and nutritious too. I am sure that she is serving the same products that her family loves too.

The first time that I ordered from her it was last year for the 17th birthday of my Ishi , I ordered a Nurse themed cake and cupcake. The whole family loves it, my husband even told me to call Iris to tell her that we are having a hard time starting to finish off the cakes since it is just to0 pretty to be eaten, but once we all started, we find it hard to stop hehehhehe.

Ishi's Pink Nurse Cake

Ishi's Nurse Cupcake

Just last October 18, I ordered a dozen of Angry Birds cupcakes for my little son’s 8th birthday. The birds must have gone real crazy, imagine, traveling from Bacoor, Cavite via Caloocan all the way to our place in Marilao, Bulacan. But it was all worth it.  My little Icko was so overwhelmed that he even told us not to eat the red and black angry birds since he will be bringing it to the school for his “baon”.

Icko's Angry Birds

Project Happiness Bakehouse never ceases to impress me. The packaging has improved and each and every client’s order is a work of love and art from both the husband and wife tandem of Marcelle and Iris Pulga.  I had seen this business bloom just like a true baby of the couple.  They are always improving each and every creation.

Now meet the lovely baker: Iris Pulga – the Diva behindProject Happiness Bakehouse

Dampa Style Buttered Garlic Shrimp

Buttered Garlic Shrimp is the undisputed favorite of my family everytime we would eat out at Dampa (be it in Macapagal or Libis). I decided to bring Da,pa style cooking in our home, luckily I was able to master the art of cooking it. Whenever there is a potluck family party this is my most requested share.

There are several hits and misses, but I was able to find the best recipe and proportion of the ingredients to match the taste of Dampa.

So here is Brown Pinay’s Version of Dampa Style Buttered Garlic Shrimp.

Buttered Shrimp Dampa Style

Ingredients:

  • 1 kilo of shrimps
  • 1 whole slab of butter
  • 2 cups of 7UP/Sprite or Miranda (I tried both I prefer the Miranda for a more sweet taste)
  • 8 cloves of garlic
  • Cornstarch dissolve in little water (depends on how you like the consistency of the sauce)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Procedure

  • Marinate the shrimp for 3 to 5 minutes (just enough for the soda to be absorbed by the shrimp.
  • In a wok, boil the shrimp, salt to taste and the soda together for 8 to 10 minutes. Just make sure not to overcook it since it will be hard to peel.
  • Remove the shrimp from the broth and set aside the shrimp/soda broth.
  • In a separate pan, sauté the minced garlic in butter. At this time the aroma is really hard to resist yum yum…..
  • Separate a portion of your cooked butter for toppings.
  • Add the remains of the shrimp/soda broth (don’t put all, just the amount proportional to your shrimp).
  • Add the Cornstarch dissolve in little water, once you had already reached the desired consistency, pour over your cooked shrimp.

Just make sure that you have your hot rice ready and you are ready to Serve, eat and enjoy ……and Feast!!!!

Kani Salad

I think I am turning Japanisa, apart from the maki and sushi I also love Kani Salad. Last Noche Buena I decided to prepare one for my family.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack Crab Sticks (Kani), strips (you may opt to boil/pre-cook it or you can have it raw) – usually packed at 150gms – cut into strips
  • Strips of ripe Mango
  • 2 small cucumber (remove the seeds) – peeled and julienne
  • 1 Carrot – peeled and julienne
  • Japanese Mayonnaise (also called Kewpie)- I bought mine at Landmark Grocery, Trinoma QC) – sorry guys, I was not able to get the exact proportion.
  • Sesame Oil (use moderately since it has a strong taste)
  • Some Salt and Pepper

Optional:

  • Tobiko (orange-colored flying fish roe) for topping, optional since it is really expensive
  • Corn kernels, canned and drained.

Procedure:

  • Mix all ingredients.
  • Chill.
  • Serve.
  • Enjoy

That’s it.

Kani Salad as easy as 1-2-3.

How about you do have any Japanese food recipe that is as easy to prepare?

Comfort Food : California Maki

I so love California Maki, perhaps this is influenced by my 5 years of work in a Japanese Company where all my Jap bosses order authentic Jap cuisine everytime we go out or order for food deliveries.

At home, I am the only one craving for this. They just do not like the taste, my husband told me that it just like “kakaning malagkit” hehehhehe…..well I am not insisting upon him to like it, it is just me and my penchant for Japanese foods.

Well, California Maki is just one of my many comfort food.

What about you, what is your comfort food?

This is the first time ever that this blog of mine is joining a foodie contest and I am so excited and happy since this baptism of fire is worth it…the prizes are all to die for, just looking at the prizes makes me crave…being the matakaw that I am….I will never pass this contest by without even joining….Ofcourse I wont.

By hook or by crook I am joining :

Join CertifiedFoodies.com’s First Anniversary Giveaway
Because of this contest, I discovered that I only have a few decent pictures of me while dining or eating out with my friends and family {honestly, most are patawa…since most are super wacky – my entry here is just semi-wacky hehehheh).

So here I am sharing my addiction to pizza {Shakey’s in particular}

Photobucket

Sharing one lazy weekend night in the life of Brown Pinay with her Brown Pinoy…

We would always drop a call to quick delivery from Shakey’s and wallahhhh…in a couple of minutes someone will be knocking in our door and the pizza addicts in the house are all in their wide, happy grin.. That was when we are still living in Caloocan which is just a walk away from all those food establishments….It is a different story now that we are already in Marilao, Bulacan. Goodbye to food deliveries 

Pamilyang addict sa pizza…{akala nyo makakain kayo ha hehheheheh…ubos agad dumaan si Flash, pawacky wacky pa tayo ha hehehheh} – Taken during my bunso’s 7th bday party

Photobucket

Where’s the pizza?

In this picture I was goofing around with my equally crazy officemates at my Icko’s 7th birthday party in Shakey’s MCU. Why the sad face? Well, when the clown announced that the partaking of the giant pizza was open for partaking, everything happened so fast, it was like a tornado attack. After several minutes and with just a blink of an eye no pizza left in the giant pizza plate hehhehe….But I am so happy though since everyone enjoyed my bunso’s pizza and the party.

And of course since this is a contest entry, it is just rightful to give thanks to the generous sponsors for making this contest fab:

Cooking 101: Chicken in Creamy Sauce and Mushroom

It has been a while that I neglected that I already have a food blog.  Been too busy to update all my blogs.
But Today I decided to blog about something I really love doing…COOKING. I seldom do it nowadays, since I really have a hard time juggling between work and at the same time cooking. My workplace is really far from where I stay (home sweet home = Marilao, Bulacan; work = Pasig). Thanks to my ever trusted maid, for filling up my shortcomings in this aspect. I am very thankful that God has sent me a kasambahay who loves my kids very much and is knows how to cook.  But during weekends and special occasions in the family, I make sure that I have my hand in the cooking arena.

This Sunday, my Ishi asked me to cook anything with chicken. So off to the market with no dish in mind, except for the thought that my eldest love anything with white sauce and creamy. So with that in mind, chicken and cream, I decided to cook Brown Pinay’s version of Chicken in Creamy Sauce and Mushroom.

Ingredients:

butter

onion and garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 chicken
250 ml Nestle Cream
75 ml Evaporated Milk
1 can of Vienna sausage (sliced)
1 can of button mushroom (sliced)
2 hard-boiled eggs

1. Bring to boil the chicken in a generous amount of water with salt until tender.
2. In a separate pan, saute onion and garlic in butter.
3. Pour the chicken and simmer for 5 minutes.
4. Pour in the 75 ml of Evaporated milk and bring to boil
5. Add Nestle cream and simmer until the mixture thicken.
6. Add the mushroom and vienna sausage.
7. Taste the sauce and add salt and pepper to taste.
8. Garnish with sliced hard boiled eggs.

Serves 4 to 6.

Nathaniel’s Buko Pandan Salad

Nothing beats Nathaniel’s Buko Pandan Salad…..It is a good and healthy alternative for ice cream.

Nathaniel’s Buko Pandan – Packaging

Nathaniel's Buko Pandan Salad - ala Ice cream

You can actually savor the taste of buko strips, right bite of jelly pandan and the creaminess of carabao’s milk. It’s quite difficult to imagine how something as simple as buko pandan could be so delectable.

Nathaniel's Buko Pandan Salad - creamy yumminess

It is best when frozen and the creaminess just melts in your mouth.

The verdict – heavenly!!!

Not even the lipozene fat burner can help me lose weight because of yummy foods around me.
